Lost Skills Gathering
Step back into a world where hands met earth, stories filled the air, and life was learned by doing. The Lost Skills Gathering is a one-day, hands-on festival where talented elders and artisans teach the skills, crafts, traditions, and self-sufficient ways our grandparents once used to thrive.
Together, we breathe life into precious knowledge before it’s forgotten — preserving connection, resilience, and the wisdom that sustains and preserves. The Lost Skills Gathering transforms one unforgettable day into a celebration of tradition, resilience, and hands-on learning.
Haven’t you ever wished you could learn the skills your grandparents once used to thrive? In this one-day gathering, elders will share their wisdom through stories, hands-on instruction, and live demonstrations of 50+ timeless skills — from craftwork to homesteading to self-sufficiency.
Set within a beautiful botanical garden, the festival becomes a living classroom where knowledge preservation, community connection, and resilience come to life.

A One-Day Revival of Hands, Heart, and Heritage
It feels like the modern world has made everything “easier,” and yet somehow we’re more exhausted than ever. We have convenience everywhere, but confidence is rare. We can order dinner with our thumbs, watch a thousand tutorials on how to do something, and still feel strangely helpless when life asks us to actually do the thing. When a button pops off. When the power goes out. When the garden overproduces and we don’t know how to preserve it. When a kid asks, “How do I make this?” and we realize we’ve never been taught...
Pay By The Heart
At the Lost Skills Gathering, we have a culture of honoring our teachers with gratitude and offer a “Pay by the Heart” model for their gracious time and service to our community. We share this now so you can plan ahead: when you attend, please bring cash to show your appreciation for the elders and artisans who give their time and wisdom so freely. Most classes will suggest a small donation (usually $5–25) to help cover materials and honor their effort.
Think of it as a living tip jar for knowledge. If you learn something that moves you, give a little more. Your generosity keeps these traditions alive and ensures our teachers feel valued for the gifts they share. If finances are tight, know that gratitude takes many forms — a handmade token, a jar from your pantry, a note of thanks. What matters most is the spirit of giving.
Come prepared not just to learn, but to give back — from your wallet or your heart — and help us build a festival culture rooted in respect, generosity, and care. 🌿
