Our Books

Plant wisdom for a modern world, written from the apothecary, the classroom, and the old paths that still know the way.

Our books are written for people who want plant medicine to feel less overwhelming, more human, and more connected to real life. Each guide is written by Brandon Elijah Scott, founder, herbalist, educator, and formulator at Woodland Herbal. His writing grows from the same work he does every day: teaching students through Green Path Academy, crafting remedies in the apothecary, studying traditional Western herbalism, and listening carefully to the real questions people bring when they are trying to care for themselves and their families.

These books are not written from theory alone. They come from years of hands-on remedy making, thousands of customer conversations, a lifelong relationship with wild places, and the living tradition of a family apothecary shaped by four living generations of herbalists, with roots reaching through 10+ generations of family tradition. Brandon writes with the hope of making herbal wisdom feel practical, beautiful, and approachable, so more people can find their way back to the plants with confidence and care.

More Books Are Taking Root

Herbal Wisdom for a Toxic Age is the first guide in a growing collection of Woodland Herbal books, but it won’t be the last.

Brandon is currently at work on several new book projects, including Wild Sleep: Herbal Remedies for Deep Rest & Nervous System Calm, forthcoming in early 2027 through Wellfleet Press, an imprint of Quarto Publishing Group. This deeper sleep-focused herbal book will explore plant medicine, nervous system restoration, and practical remedies for a world that has forgotten how to rest.

Also in development is Botanical Herbology: A Medicinal Plant Coloring Book, a creative plant study companion designed to help readers slow down, learn medicinal herbs visually, and build a more intimate relationship with the plants through art, observation, and beauty.

Brandon is also shaping a larger illustrated materia medica, created as a beautiful and practical companion to medicinal plants. This future book will bring together plant remedy breakdowns, traditional uses, folklore, botanical illustrations, and grounded herbal guidance for readers who want to know the plants more deeply.

Written from a Living Herbal Tradition

Woodland Herbal’s books are written from the same living work that fills our apothecary every day: teaching students, crafting remedies, answering real customer questions, studying traditional Western herbalism, and helping people bring plant medicine back into ordinary life.

They are written by Brandon Elijah Scott, founder, herbalist, educator, and formulator at Woodland Herbal, and shaped by the deeper family tradition behind the work: four generations still carrying the herbal path forward, with roots reaching back through 10+ generations of family knowledge, old skills, and plant-based care.

Through Woodland Herbal, Brandon and his family have handcrafted more than 135,000 herbal remedies for 100,000+ people, earning over 21,000 five-star reviews from customers seeking practical, natural support. These books are one more way Brandon shares that knowledge: with warmth, humility, experience, and a deep belief that herbal wisdom should feel useful, beautiful, and close to home.
