Follow the Signs
Look for Lost Skills Gathering signs near the road, traffic guides, and the main entrance tent when you arrive. Volunteers will help direct vehicles, guide guests, and keep the arrival flow moving safely.
Drop-Offs Are Allowed
Guests may be dropped off near the festival entrance before vehicles continue to the parking area. This is especially helpful for elders, families with young children, guests with mobility needs, or anyone carrying supplies for the day.
One Main Entrance
All guests will enter through the main festival entrance tent. This is where you will pay your entry fee, check in through will call if you purchased tickets ahead of time, and receive your festival wristband.
Tickets & Wristbands
You can purchase tickets ahead of time to save a few dollars, or buy admission day-of at the entrance booth. Every guest will receive a wristband and a printed festival guide with a map to help you find your way around the grounds.
Aim to Arrive by 9:00 AM
The festival entrance opens at 9:00 AM. Scheduled events begin at 9:30 AM, while many demonstrations, vendors, and open activities will be ready as guests enter the grounds. Arriving at opening gives you time to park, check in, get oriented, and make the most of the day.
Exploring the Grounds
A Garden Festival, Not a Parking-Lot Event
Lost Skills Gathering will unfold throughout Clary Gardens, with activities spread across the pavilion, garden paths, wooded areas, tents, marketplace spaces, and gathering areas. Plan to wander, explore, and move between different parts of the grounds throughout the day.
Expect Some Hills
Clary Gardens is beautiful, but it is not perfectly flat. Some areas rise gently through the gardens, and guests should expect walking, slopes, paths, and outdoor terrain. Comfortable shoes are strongly recommended.
The Pavilion as a Main Anchor
The main pavilion will serve as one of the central gathering points of the festival, with nearby access to garden paths, the waterfall area, vendors, music, and other festival activity. It is a good place to orient yourself as you move through the day.
Tents Throughout the Grounds
Many teachers, vendors, and activities will be located under white festival tents throughout the gardens and wooded areas. Some stations will be scheduled, some will rotate, and others will welcome guests as space opens.
Waterfall, Gardens & Wooded Spaces
Part of the beauty of the day is the setting itself. Guests will be able to move through rose gardens, herb areas, wooded edges, open lawns, the waterfall area, and seasonal autumn color as they explore the gathering.
Take Your Time
This festival is meant to be wandered. Give yourself permission to move slowly, pause often, follow music through the trees, stop at a tent that catches your eye, and leave space for the unexpected moments that make the day memorable.
Accessibility, Terrain & Comfort
Terrain & Walking
Clary Gardens is beautiful, but it is not a flat event field. Guests should expect paved paths, garden slopes, grassy areas, wooded terrain, and uneven ground as they move between the pavilion, tents, gardens, food, music, and activity areas.
Accessibility Notes
Many main festival areas are accessible, especially with help, but some workshop spaces, woodland areas, hills, or tent locations may be difficult for wheelchairs, walkers, strollers, or guests with limited mobility. Please plan for an outdoor garden setting and move at a comfortable pace.
Drop-Off Area
Guest drop-off will be available near the main entrance off State Route 541 before vehicles continue to the parking area. No general vehicle traffic will be allowed deeper into the grounds, but the drop-off area can help guests who need a shorter walk to the entrance.
Restrooms
Clary Gardens has three permanent restrooms near the red building by the pavilion: men’s, women’s, and a unisex restroom. The men’s and women’s restrooms are handicap accessible. Four porta potties are also planned near the food truck area.
Shade, Seating & Shelter
There will be shaded areas throughout the grounds, along with seating in key gathering spaces such as the pavilion and stone amphitheater area. The pavilion is large, covered, and will offer a place to sit, rest, and regroup during the day.
Weather & Guest Comfort
Lost Skills Gathering is outdoors, rain or shine unless weather becomes dangerous. Drinks will be available on-site, and guests may bring a thermos or refillable water bottle. Coolers and pets are not permitted, though service animals are welcome. Dress for October weather and wear comfortable shoes.
What to Bring & What to Leave at Home
Bring Comfortable Shoes
You will be moving through garden paths, hills, grassy areas, wooded edges, and uneven ground throughout the day. Comfortable shoes are one of the best things you can bring.
Dress for October Weather
The gathering is outdoors and will be held rain or shine unless weather becomes dangerous. Bring layers, rain protection if needed, and whatever helps you stay comfortable in changing Ohio fall weather.
Bring Cash
Cash is strongly recommended for food, teacher donations, handmade goods, vendor purchases, and small treasures found throughout the grounds. Some vendors may accept cards, but cash will make the day easier.
Bring a Bottle or Thermos
Drinks will be available on-site, but guests are welcome to bring a refillable water bottle or thermos. A full festival day is better when you stay hydrated.
Bring a Bag
A small backpack, tote, or shoulder bag is helpful for carrying your festival guide, map, notebook, purchases, handmade items, layers, and anything you pick up along the way.
Leave These at Home
Please do not bring coolers or pets. Service animals are welcome. To help keep the grounds safe, comfortable, and easy to move through, please travel lightly and bring only what you need for the day.
Day-of Notes & Festival Guidelines
Food Trucks & Drinks
Food and drink will be part of the day, with options planned to help guests stay nourished, comfortable, and present throughout the gathering. Offerings may vary as the festival takes shape, so guests are encouraged to bring cash, plan for a full day outdoors, and check back closer to the event for updated details.
Cash & Teacher Donations
Lost Skills Gathering staff will accept cards for entrance fees and festival merchandise, but some teachers and vendors may not. Cash is strongly recommended, especially for teacher donations, food, handmade goods, and small purchases throughout the grounds.
Pay By The Heart
Many teachers will have suggested donations posted at their teaching spaces. Please plan to thank teachers directly with cash when you attend their classes, demonstrations, or hands-on offerings. If money is tight, gratitude can also take the form of a kind note, handmade token, pantry gift, or heartfelt thanks.
Bags & Entry
Guests should expect bags to be checked at entry. Please travel lightly and bring only what you need for the day. Guns, weapons, alcohol, and drugs are not permitted on festival grounds.
Respectful Gathering Space
Lost Skills Gathering is a peaceful, family-friendly, politics-free gathering rooted in kindness, curiosity, and shared learning. Political campaigning, divisive signage or clothing, religious solicitation, disruptive behavior, or anything that interferes with the welcoming spirit of the day may result in removal from the festival.
Lodging
If you are traveling from outside the area, we recommend planning lodging early. Coshocton and the surrounding area offer hotels, inns, rentals, and camping options, including the local KOA, though Lost Skills Gathering does not currently have an official lodging partner or room block.
